This service has worked perfectly for four years. As of October 9th, the host is discontinuing "free" hosting. I give them a "10" rating for at least notifying their free subscribers before deleting the websites.

This one works fine. The sign-up script ran without a hitch, and the account was created within minutes. The FTP server works fine. HTML pages are served quickly with no hidden ads or scripts (stats, analytics, urchins, etc.) to slow down page loading.

The sign-up procedure is a little more convoluted than most, but if you follow all the instructions, it works fine. The instructions, which include your username and a military-strength password, are delivered in a PDF file, so you have to type your password in manually the first time you access your cPanel. (My PDF viewer wouldn't let me "cut and paste.") You have to do this twice if you want to change your password to something you'll be able to remember without looking it up every time.

If you opt to use a "subdomain," note that your subdomain name will be slightly different from their main domain name.

This host has no email contact address prominently displayed on its website, but a "web-form" contact page works perfectly and brought a prompt response from a real human being, so no "points off" for that.

I took one rating point off for something that I know I am going to hate. Every time you access your site by FTP, it generates an email to you advising that somebody is accessing your site by FTP. I'm sure this is a "security feature," but I know it's going to get annoying after a while unless you set up some sort of filter in your email client to trap these messages out of your inbox. It might not matter too much if you don't update your site very often. I update my site every day, and I just know this is going to be a pain in the butt. It's possible there's an easy way to turn off this notification feature, but I couldn't find it. If you click on the "Help" link on the cPanel page, you only get a blank page with the word "Help!" on it.

Other than that, everything works perfectly.
